NASA SLS BRANDING

Branding and Logo Development

Rocket is up and away.

Client:

NASA Headquarters - Washington D.C.

Project Details:

With the start of America's newest rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS), NASA needed a new messaging brand and style guide for the SLS program at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. All departments at Marshall were working independently and there was no cohesive brand or style linking everything together. We were tasked with developing a new logo along with a style guide that would give all SLS internal and external marketing a cohesive look and feel.

A logo was created based off the SLS silhouette and a graphical representation of the 5.5 million pounds of thrust needed to carry 154,000 pounds of payload into space. A color palette using black, orange, gray and a white background was also set. A style guide, which included sample layouts of collateral pieces including ads, folders, video layouts, etc. was produced.

The project was a success and all departments working within the NASA SLS team have utilized the assets into one united “messaging brand”. NASA received logos, a style guide and templates to create and manage new branded materials.

"Toby and I have worked together on a number of projects over the past several years. I knew that whatever project he was working on for me and the team I worked with, it would be handled and done in a timely manner. Whenever we would make changes and/or edits, he would provide valuable insight to the direction and help us see the vision we were all working to create. His opinions were always valued. Toby is a talented and knowledgeable professional in the creative design industry. I would definitely recommend Toby to be a part of any design team."
